We helped Bournemouth Writing Festival run their flash fiction and poetry competition last year and have now published the winning entries in an anthology, here.

Each of those winners had the opportunity to send a collection of their work to us, for us to choose an overall winner. The results are in and we are so happy to have chosen Helen Kay’s poetry collection, It Was Never About the Kingfisher.

We are currently working with Helen to publish her collection in a dedicated chapbook before the end of the year.

This year we have a new role in the Bournemouth Writing Festival’s competition. The BWF are teaming up with Bournemouth University to award the Bournemouth Writing Prize and we have been asked to judge the poetry element of the competition and, again, publish the anthology of winners.

This is a great honour and we look forward to seeing the shortlisted poems. The deadline for the competition is January 15th 2025 and more details can be found on the Bournemouth Writing Prize page and the Festival Competition page.

Our first submissions window was a great success - attracting a great variety of beautifully-wrought ten-pagers for us to consider.

In fact, it was so successful that we have changed our policy on submissions. We are now accepting submissions throughout the year. For more information, please go to our Submissions page.

We are currently reading full submissions from the short-listed authors from our first submissions window and will choose one of them for publication in Summer 2025.
